[Disclaimer](/readme/disclaimer)
{% endhint %}

Dragobits is a strategic, fully on-chain battle game that runs on EVM chains. The game emphasizes economic aspects over elaborate UI elements. Its unique concept allows it to operate on high-TVL chains like Ethereum L2s, unlike other games that rely on high-throughput, low-TVL chains.

# Disclaimer

Acknowledge before playing 🤝

**Dragobits** is a strategic on-chain game centered around making decisions over time. Initially, the deployed contracts may include an upgrade permission that allows for immediate bug fixes after launch. This permission will be removed as soon as possible, ensuring that once the game is fully finalized, no game mechanics can be modified by us and we will not have access to any on-chain funds.

Nothing in this documentation constitutes financial advice. Before deciding to mint, buy, or trade any NFTs or tokens related to Dragobits, you should carefully consider the risk that these assets could potentially go to zero.

Please note that the contracts may contain bugs, which could result in total losses. The game will be open source, and we disclaim any responsibility for ensuring its correct functionality. Users are free to run their own frontends for interacting with the contracts if they prefer.

In the future, we may develop improved ideas or features and deploy entirely new versions of the game under new contracts. These new versions may not provide any benefit to existing Dragobits, and we do not plan on migrating old Dragobits to any new deployment. Each version of Dragobits should be seen as a closed ecosystem, existing independently of its predecessors.

Our goal with Dragobits is to create a game that relies solely on Ethereum and can run indefinitely without permissions or execution risks. Beyond technical resilience, we’re passionate collectors who love dynamic, interactive NFTs. We haven’t yet seen a game that combines fully on-chain collectibles—where even the artwork is on-chain—with a multiplayer mode that can operate endlessly.

<div><figure><img src="https://822062291-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F4RIEOd04Q8veh8jY7xTW%2Fuploads%2FNyU0hTdLHMuscqnHIoVk%2Fdragobits_35_standard.png?alt=media&amp;token=12e2ab0d-4d19-4050-9eee-43d156593918" alt=""><figcaption><p>Zombie Dragobit</p></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="https://822062291-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F4RIEOd04Q8veh8jY7xTW%2Fuploads%2FdkG7hPi6yjEiSfWYdxiX%2Fdragobits_47_standard.png?alt=media&amp;token=72dd890d-1282-45c6-94b3-a4b664ce7cd4" alt=""><figcaption><p>Bitcoin Dragobit</p></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="https://822062291-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F4RIEOd04Q8veh8jY7xTW%2Fuploads%2F8qNUkpDUzdKCjyZUQEKZ%2Fdragobits_62_standard.png?alt=media&amp;token=97363f55-e23a-4eaa-84c7-80ba6cf6d14d" alt=""><figcaption><p>Black Cat Dragobit</p></figcaption></figure></div>

Dragobits are [ERC-721 compatible](https://ethereum.org/en/developers/docs/standards/tokens/erc-721/) NFTs, with both their traits and artwork stored 100% on-chain. By default, each Dragobit has three visual traits: Atmosphere, Platform, and Species. For example, the second image above (middle) shows a Dragobit with Atmosphere: *Devil*; Platform: *Alien*; and Species: *Bitcoin*.

To mint a Dragobit, you must spend some ETH or the respective native gas token of the chain you’re playing on. The exact fees are documented in the [deployment](/deployments/recent-deployment) chapter, where you can find the specific fee for each deployed instance of the game.

100% of the mint fee (after optional [art upgrade](/getting-started/art-upgrades) & [referral](/getting-started/referrals) deductions) is swapped on-chain for an ERC-20 token through a third-party DEX like [Uniswap](https://uniswap.org/). The [ERC-20](https://ethereum.org/en/developers/docs/standards/tokens/erc-20/) are then partially attached to the minted Dragobit and partially sent to a [special vault](/getting-started/quickstart/publish-your-docs#mint-boost). This process is fully decentralized. By choosing to mint, you are interacting with a protocol, not a centralized game. The game does not require a custom backend and can instead operate with an open-source graph instance that reads public on-chain events. All contracts, the needed subgraph and the initial frontend are open source.

{% hint style="info" %}
The Dragobits game can be deployed by anyone without permission and can use any ERC-20 token. Check the deployment chapter to see which token each deployment is based on.
{% endhint %}

# Dragobit Vaults

<figure><img src="https://822062291-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F4RIEOd04Q8veh8jY7xTW%2Fuploads%2FYdZrFYVyEjEDQGZqrfuR%2Fswap2_scaled_13x_minified.gif?alt=media&amp;token=10e40e04-534e-4d89-9616-db1b238d91a9" alt=""><figcaption><p>Dragobits Swap</p></figcaption></figure>

As introduced in the previous chapter, when minting a Dragobit, a certain amount of the specified ERC-20 token will be attached to it. The amount of the token may vary per Dragobit, depending on the on-chain token price at the time of the transaction. When a Dragobit is transferred, access to the attached tokens is also transferred. The token is held in a separate smart contract for each Dragobit, known as the "**Dragobit Vault**".

## Mint Boost Vault

When minting a Dragobit, the minter has the chance to get a boosted amount of the attached ERC-20 token which comes from a special vault that is owned by the Dragobits contract itself. The chance probability may vary per [deployment](/deployments/recent-deployment).

## Claiming

Only the owner of a Dragobit can access its vault. A vault can hold not only tokens but also ETH (native gas). If a Dragobit owner wishes to withdraw tokens or ETH from the vault, this can be done anytime when the Dragobit is not actively engaged in [gameplay](/game/arena).

However, to claim from the vault, the Dragobit NFT must be burned. This mechanic ensures that once a major player chooses to exit, space is made for new players. For instance, if the exiting player owned a Dragobit with very high strength, it would have been particularly powerful in gameplay.&#x20;

Additionally, when claiming from the vault, a certain percentage of the tokens will remain in the vault to be indirectly burned. This serves as spam protection to prevent players from circumventing the [reroll](/getting-started/rerolls) fee.

# Protocol Fees

Fees play an integral role in the entire Dragobits protocol. Fees that influence gameplay always go back into the protocol or to individual players, but not to any centralized entity behind the game.&#x20;

So, how do the protocol creators make money? There are some cosmetic features, like sponsoring a chat message or upgrading the art of a Dragobit, but these are fully optional and do not provide any in-game advantages.&#x20;

Fees may vary per Dragobits [deployment](/game/deployments).

# Rarities & Randomness

Each Dragobit trait has 100 types: 100 atmospheres, 100 platforms, and 100 species (which may increase in future [deployments](/game/deployments)). With the exception of activated [rarity auras](/game/auras), all traits share the same rarity. However, since each Dragobit is a unique combination of these traits, it is unlikely to achieve a perfect match of the same atmosphere, platform, and species.

<figure><img src="https://822062291-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F4RIEOd04Q8veh8jY7xTW%2Fuploads%2FBcNKJaJzYYAmhQ5x3h1C%2Fdragobits_57_standard.png?alt=media&amp;token=bcdedf8c-2cfb-4ed8-8f8b-5daa3cfc9276" alt="" width="340"><figcaption><p>Perfect Alien Dragobit</p></figcaption></figure>

In Dragobits Stage 0 and its predecessors, randomness is actually pseudo-randomness, meaning it relies on values that could potentially be influenced by chain operators. On Ethereum L2 chains, this particularly refers to the sequencer. For example, on Base, the sequencer - currently centralized and operated by Coinbase - would need to intervene to manipulate the pseudo-randomness. It is generally assumed that such manipulation is unlikely.

In future versions, the goal is to work with a fully decentralized source of randomness. Several solutions are possible, including:

* Committing to a future value of [Ethereum’s L1 RANDAO](https://ethereum.org/en/developers/docs/consensus-mechanisms/pos/block-proposal/).
* Using an oracle like [Chainlink VRF](https://docs.chain.link/vrf).
* Implementing a verifiable delay function ([VDF](https://vitalik.eth.limo/general/2024/10/29/futures6.html#4)).
* Employing a [zero-knowledge-based](https://zkvrf.com/) source of randomness.

# Rerolls

Each Dragobit can be rerolled up to 255 times. Each reroll incurs a [fee](/getting-started/quickstart/protocol-fees) with 100% of the fee going to the game reward pool. A standard reroll regenerates all four base traits of a Dragobit: Atmosphere, Platform, Species, and Strength. If a reroll is applied to a Dragobit that has already been trained, its strength will reset to the new reroll result.

There is one special type of reroll which is the **atmosphere only reroll**. By choosing this option, only the atmosphere of a Dragobit will reroll. This can be useful when hunting for a perfect match Dragobit where platform and species are already matching.

During a reroll, the vault of a Dragobit will remain untouched.

<figure><img src="https://822062291-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F4RIEOd04Q8veh8jY7xTW%2Fuploads%2FnlmKjl01GA5e4Tlz7K0i%2Fdragobits_57_standard.png?alt=media&amp;token=215665c1-9af9-4098-b53c-540d3ea1a507" alt="" width="340"><figcaption><p>Alien Dragobit with Rainbow Atmosphere</p></figcaption></figure>

# Art Upgrades

When minting a Dragobit, players have the option to enhance its appearance by opting for an art upgrade for an additional payment to the creators. This upgrade adds striking visual elements, especially larger wings, giving your Dragobit a more majestic and commanding presence.

**What the Art Upgrade Means**

The art upgrade enhances your Dragobit visually, allowing it to stand out with a bigger, more detailed appearance. However, it’s important to note that this upgrade is **purely cosmetic** and has **no impact** on gameplay. All Dragobits, whether standard or upgraded, retain the same in-game capabilities and strengths.

**Supporting the Creators**

The art upgrade fee goes directly to the creators of Dragobits, allowing players to support their continued work. Think of this as a voluntary contribution rather than a required payment; the upgrade is entirely optional and does not confer any in-game benefit. The choice to enhance your Dragobit’s art is a way to appreciate and support the artistry behind the game.

So, whether you prefer the standard look or wish to personalize your Dragobit with an upgraded appearance, every Dragobit is equally prepared for the journey ahead!

<div><figure><img src="https://822062291-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F4RIEOd04Q8veh8jY7xTW%2Fuploads%2FvuI84MAEWgtu719oTQvL%2Fdragobits_59_standard.png?alt=media&amp;token=e5a19ec7-df7e-4f48-8c57-c8c184d770c6" alt=""><figcaption><p>Standard</p></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="https://822062291-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F4RIEOd04Q8veh8jY7xTW%2Fuploads%2FGdrXIy2pRxgBvfjlZQak%2Fdragobits_59_upgrade.png?alt=media&amp;token=952f9f56-7a27-4ebb-bc06-9c873d23c646" alt=""><figcaption><p>Art Upgrade</p></figcaption></figure></div>

# Referrals

The Dragobits referral system is a unique, fully on-chain feature that lets players earn rewards by inviting others to join the game. Here’s how it works:

1. **Usernames as Referral Codes**\
   Usernames are resolved to the token ID of the user's profile Dragobit through frontend or off-chain logic, and this token ID is used as the referrer in the contract. Consequently, any existing Dragobit's token ID can be used as a referral code.
2. **Setting Your Username**\
   There is a one-time protocol [fee](/getting-started/quickstart/protocol-fees) required to set your username. Setting a username is optional, but it is essential if you wish to participate in the referral system and start earning from your invites.
3. **Referral Rewards**\
   When you refer new players to Dragobits, and they use your username as their referral code, you earn a share of their mint, [reroll](/getting-started/rerolls) and [training](/game/training) fees. This reward is automatically sent to your Dragobits [vault](/getting-started/quickstart/publish-your-docs) on-chain.
4. **Self-Referral**\
   Players may wonder if they can refer themselves by creating a second account. The answer is yes—you are free to set up multiple accounts and refer yourself if you choose to do so. However, there’s an advantage to using the referral code of a more active player.
5. **Referree Rewards**\
   By using the referral code of an active player, the referred Dragobit has a chance to gain additional strength during training sessions. If the referrer's Dragobit is in the arena while the referred Dragobit is sent to training, the referred Dragobit will have a chance to gain a percentage of the referrer's strength.

# Deployments

Deployments are instances of the Dragobits contracts, in a particular version, deployed to a specific EVM chain. Similar to Ethereum's decentralization stages, Dragobit versions are also called "[**Stages**](/game/deployments/editor)". A deployment of a specific stage to a particular chain is called an "[**Instance**](/game/deployments/markdown)". The most recent Dragobits deployment can be found [here](/deployments/recent-deployment).

# Stages

Similar to how Ethereum rollups are classified in stages, we also categorize the Dragobits game into stages. In traditional game development, stages could be compared to major new releases. In the case of Dragobits, stages represent the game’s decentralization and longevity. The lower the stage, the less decentralized and enduring it is.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Stage Alpha (current)

Stage Alpha is a testing phase in which the game is deployed on real networks, and some early adopters receive gas tokens for testing. Additionally, all [configuration](/deployments/base-instance-0.1-alpha) variables are adjusted to make the game affordable to play.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Stage 0 (next)

In Stage 0, randomness depends on an honest transaction sequencer, meaning the reliability of the game’s random events is tied to the trustworthiness of a central entity. The game can be modified, but customization is difficult and requires significant effort. Additionally, the deployer has the ability to update the artwork, which includes non-game-relevant metadata but does not affect gameplay.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Stage 1 (soon)

In Stage 1, the game moves toward a more decentralized setup, as randomness no longer depends on a single third party. Basic hooks are introduced, enabling the community to build and apply modifications to the game.&#x20;
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Stage 2

Stage 2 represents a fully decentralized Dragobits experience, where randomness relies solely on user interactions and Ethereum’s infrastructure. This stage introduces enhanced and flexible hooks, making it possible to create custom versions of the game based on existing contracts.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

# Instances

Traditional web2 multiplayer games typically run on different servers based on traffic demands. In the context of Dragobits, game servers are represented by deployments on blockchains, referred to as "**Instances**". Unlike traditional gaming, the game cannot be shut down by the deployer; as long as the underlying blockchain of an instance remains operational, the game will continue to run.

{% hint style="info" %}
Of course, a frontend is also required to play the game. Protocol Monster Labs is developing open-source frontends for Dragobits that require only a blockchain RPC and a graph node. The goal is for the community to create alternative frontends for the game.
{% endhint %}

# The Arena

<figure><img src="https://822062291-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F4RIEOd04Q8veh8jY7xTW%2Fuploads%2FEj7r3cz5fLOkTbtZ9Xhl%2Farena.png?alt=media&amp;token=f81b34fc-84d5-485d-8f0f-944fdf84dbb5" alt=""><figcaption><p>Dragobits Arena</p></figcaption></figure>

The **Arena** is the battlefield in Dragobits. When a player joins the arena, they are considered to be actively “playing.” To join the arena, a Dragobit must complete at least one [training](/game/training) session. Joining the arena locks the Dragobit, preventing it from being transferred while in play.&#x20;

{% hint style="info" %}
A locked Dragobit cannot be transferred or approved for transfer by other contracts, though existing approvals remain intact.
{% endhint %}

## Arena Mechanics

An area slot is defined by the species of a Dragobit. With 100 different species, there are 100 available slots, meaning only 100 players can be in the arena at the same time.

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Slot Free" %}
If the slot if free:

The joining Dragobit will occupy a slot and remain there for a randomly chosen duration (with minimum and maximum durations depending on instance [configuration](/game/deployments)). During this time, the Dragobit will participate in the reward pool. After this period, the Dragobit can exit the slot at no cost.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Slot Occupied" %}
If the slot if occupied:

The joining Dragobit will attack the current occupant. If the attacker wins, it claims all tokens from the defender’s [vault](/getting-started/quickstart/publish-your-docs), the defender is burned, and the attacker takes the slot, adhering to the same lock duration as in a free slot scenario. If the defender wins, the attacker is burned, and the defender seizes the attacker’s vault, remaining in play mode on the arena slot.
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

While in the arena, Dragobits can be attacked by other Dragobits of the same species, leading to battles.

## Battles

<figure><img src="https://822062291-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F4RIEOd04Q8veh8jY7xTW%2Fuploads%2F9kXCg7klt16xqyIEnofg%2Fbattlegif_scaled_6x_minified.gif?alt=media&amp;token=1d2ae400-8ba3-4341-a818-0d9b96208a68" alt=""><figcaption><p>Dragobits Battle</p></figcaption></figure>

**Stage Alpha and Stage 0 battles** depend on several factors:

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Base Strength

A Dragobit can only attack another Dragobit if its strength is at least a certain percengage of the defender’s. For example, a newly minted Dragobit with a strength of 200 cannot attack a Dragobit with a strength exceeding 10,000 if the latter has undergone significant training. The exact minimum strength depends on the [deployment](/game/deployments).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Strength Difference

The battle outcome is partly random, but the stronger Dragobit has a higher chance of winning. The defender also gains a slight advantage. For more details, refer to the smart contract logic.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Token Holdings

A Dragobit’s strength doubles (2x multiplier) if the owner holds a [specified amount](/game/deployments) of the pegging token (e.g., PMON) at the time of battle.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Trait Matches

Perfectly matching traits boost a Dragobit’s strength. A match in species and atmosphere grants a 2x multiplier. If the species and platform also match, another 2x multiplier applies.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Auras

[Auras](/game/auras) can influence both attacker and defender strength.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Dragobugs

[Dragobugs](/game/arena/dragobugs) belonging to the battling Dragobits engage in sub-battles. They play an important strategic role, as their actual strengths and weaknesses vary over time.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

# Dragobugs

<figure><img src="https://822062291-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F4RIEOd04Q8veh8jY7xTW%2Fuploads%2F8kXY8WjUFQED2OOOhrZT%2Fbug4_scaled_15x_minified.gif?alt=media&amp;token=7abe6221-3ee8-49fc-9de2-2bf77740a51b" alt="" width="360"><figcaption><p>Dragobug: <strong>Frost Hornet</strong></p></figcaption></figure>

## What Are Dragobugs?

Dragobugs are collectible critters that your Dragobit can pick up during training. Each training session has around a chance of awarding your Dragobit a brand-new Dragobug (with a maximum of eight). These little companions can play a significant role in your Dragobit’s battles.

## How Do Bug Battles Work?

When your Dragobit fights another Dragobit, and both have at least one Dragobug, those bugs engage in their own “mini-battles.” Each pair of bugs can result in three outcomes: a win, a loss, or a tie for your Dragobit’s bug. If your Dragobit’s bugs collectively rack up more wins, your Dragobit receives a strength buff in the main battle; if your opponent’s bugs win more rounds, they get the buff instead. This buff can mean the difference between victory and defeat, making bug collection and variety important considerations for competitive players.

## Why Does the Bug Order Matter?

Not all Dragobugs are equal, and certain Dragobugs “win” over others. This order is determined by the “bug permutation,” which is a special sequence that the game shuffles from time to time. Essentially, each bug is assigned a place in an invisible circle, and if your bug is ahead of another in the circle, it tends to beat that bug in a mini-battle. Because the game periodically reshuffles this circle, you might find that a bug that was previously dominant may later be weak against newly introduced or rearranged bugs. Staying up-to-date on bug permutations and collecting a diverse set of Dragobugs can help you adapt and maintain an edge.

## Getting Started with Dragobugs

**1. Train Your Dragobit:** Every training attempt has a coin-flip chance of adding one Dragobug.

**2. Watch for Variety:** Different bugs have different strengths, and the bug permutation changes, so having multiple types can pay off.

**3. Aim for Battle Buffs:** When your bugs face off against another player’s bugs, every win they secure contributes to your Dragobit’s potential overall strength buff.

Whether you’re training for fun or aiming for the top of the arena, collecting Dragobugs and paying attention to their matchups is a smart way to increase your Dragobit’s chances of coming out on top. Good luck, and happy bug hunting!

# Special Deployments

## Confidential Attacks

Some chains may support unique features not available on other EVM chains. For example, [Oasis Sapphire](https://oasisprotocol.org/sapphire) offers confidential transactions, which allow players to submit information on-chain in a decentralized way that remains hidden from other players. However, smart contracts can still execute logic based on this confidential state.

A Dragobits deployment is underway to utilize this distinctive feature. The mechanics are as follows: Upon joining a battle, a player can submit one of three special attacks along with their Dragobit. This special attack, or “**Confidential Attack**”, will remain hidden from other players. When a player attacks a Dragobit, they must also select a special attack.

# Future Outlook

## Stage 1 Battles

Stage Alpha and Stage 0 battles require strategic planning, as players must analyze and decide when to play based on the minting and training activities of other players, constantly monitoring the contract. In Stage 1, the goal is to introduce a battle mode that can be enhanced with hooks, allowing the community to develop mods. For example, these mods could allow players to select attacks or defensive moves during an encounter, impacting the outcome of the battle.

# Training

Like every other feature, training is a fully on-chain experience and requires a [protocol fee](/getting-started/quickstart/protocol-fees). With each training (per Dragobit), the fee will increase slightly. Training essentially locks your Dragobit in place, though it remains in your wallet. However, you won’t be able to transfer it while it’s in training.

The duration of a Dragobit’s training is determined randomly, with minimum and maximum times depending on the game [instance](/game/deployments). However, as the same Dragobit undergoes more training sessions, both the minimum and maximum durations increase.

Why should you send a Dragobit to training? Each training session increases a Dragobit’s strength by a certain percentage, with the exact percentage determined randomly (may vary per [deployment](/game/deployments)). For example, if a Dragobit has a strength of 500 before training and receives a 5% boost, it will gain an additional 25 strength. Strength growth is exponential with continued training, with a maximum strength cap of 1,099,511,627,775 (\~1 trillion), which is the `uint40` maximum value in Solidity.

Optionally, each training session allows you to opt-in for a free reroll of the Dragobit’s platform trait. This feature is useful for those seeking a specific combination of traits. Choosing this option does not affect the Dragobit’s strength.

There is also a small chance that training may become "dangerous". Read the [Auras](/game/auras) chapter to learn about the consequences of dangerous training.

## Bull vs Bear

At the time of training, you can signal your market stance on ETH by selecting either a bullish or bearish position. If ETH’s price moves in your predicted direction by the next training session—rising for bullish or falling for bearish—you’ll receive an additional strength boost on that session.

## Sacrifices

While Dragobits are in the arena, they cannot be trained. However, if a player still wants to increase the strength of their Dragobit while it is in the arena, they can sacrifice other Dragobits of the same species. The Dragobit in the arena then gains a certain percentage of the sacrificed Dragobit’s strength. All tokens from the vault of the sacrificed Dragobit will be transferred to the vault of the Dragobit in the arena.&#x20;

# Auras

Auras are special states that can be activated on Dragobits, providing unique attributes that enhance their presence in the game. Aura activation is not manually triggered by the user; instead, it occurs under specific conditions tied to the activities of the referrer.

Auras can be activated during training. The activation and type of aura are determined randomly. The chances to obtain an aura are [deployment](/game/deployments) specific.

{% hint style="info" %}
Each Dragobit can have only **one** aura at a time.

# Rewards

## Game Rewards

Dragobits offers two types of rewards for players: shared rewards that are distributed across all active players in the arena, and direct rewards earned from winning battles against other players. This dual reward system incentivizes both participation and strategic gameplay.

<div align="center"><figure><img src="https://822062291-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F4RIEOd04Q8veh8jY7xTW%2Fuploads%2FbJMO4oO4B0lpb7M1qfzw%2Fcoinrain2_scaled_10x_minified.gif?alt=media&amp;token=6d22cdda-88fc-4b3e-a828-ad8a6dfc395b" alt="" width="320"><figcaption><p>Game Rewards</p></figcaption></figure></div>

### Shared Rewards

Shared rewards are sourced from the reward pool, which is funded by various player fees within the game. This pool operates in a fully decentralized manner, with no revenue directed to any company or external entity. All contributions to the pool are dedicated exclusively to player rewards.

While players have Dragobits in the arena, they accumulate rewards from the pool. For instance, if 10 players are in the arena and 0.1 ETH is added to the reward pool during that time, each player would be allocated 0.01 ETH. Shared rewards are distributed in ETH or the native gas token of the chain (or shard) on which the game is running.

### Direct Rewards

Direct rewards are earned by defeating another player in battle, whether on offense or defense. When a Dragobit wins a battle, it seizes all ETH from the vault of the defeated Dragobit, as well as 90% of its ERC-20 tokens. The defeated Dragobit is burned, and the remaining 10% of its tokens stay locked in the vault, effectively becoming inaccessible (an indirect burn of the ERC-20 token).

### Claiming Rewards

Rewards aren’t immediately sent to players but are assigned to the vault of the victorious Dragobit. The only way to claim these rewards is to exit the arena and then burn the Dragobit to access its vault. While in the arena, a Dragobit’s vault is vulnerable to attack, meaning its accumulated rewards are at risk. Once outside the arena, however, the vault is safe (with the exception of inherent smart contract risks), though it will no longer accumulate additional rewards.
