Like every other feature, training is a fully on-chain experience and requires a protocol fee. With each training (per Dragobit), the fee will increase slightly. Training essentially locks your Dragobit in place, though it remains in your wallet. However, you won’t be able to transfer it while it’s in training.
The duration of a Dragobit’s training is determined randomly, with minimum and maximum times depending on the game instance. However, as the same Dragobit undergoes more training sessions, both the minimum and maximum durations increase.
Why should you send a Dragobit to training? Each training session increases a Dragobit’s strength by a certain percentage, with the exact percentage determined randomly (may vary per deployment). For example, if a Dragobit has a strength of 500 before training and receives a 5% boost, it will gain an additional 25 strength. Strength growth is exponential with continued training, with a maximum strength cap of 1,099,511,627,775 (~1 trillion), which is the uint40 maximum value in Solidity.
Optionally, each training session allows you to opt-in for a free reroll of the Dragobit’s platform trait. This feature is useful for those seeking a specific combination of traits. Choosing this option does not affect the Dragobit’s strength.
There is also a small chance that training may become "dangerous". Read the Auras chapter to learn about the consequences of dangerous training.
At the time of training, you can signal your market stance on ETH by selecting either a bullish or bearish position. If ETH’s price moves in your predicted direction by the next training session—rising for bullish or falling for bearish—you’ll receive an additional strength boost on that session.
While Dragobits are in the arena, they cannot be trained. However, if a player still wants to increase the strength of their Dragobit while it is in the arena, they can sacrifice other Dragobits of the same species. The Dragobit in the arena then gains a certain percentage of the sacrificed Dragobit’s strength. All tokens from the vault of the sacrificed Dragobit will be transferred to the vault of the Dragobit in the arena.
